A Figure 8 Island Style Shoot: Vintage & Romantic

June 11th, 2014

0033 Figure 8 Styled Shoot Theo Milo Photo

Working with a range of talented wedding professionals in Wilmington, North Carolina is one of the many lovely perks about being a floral designer; setting up a style shoot at the breathtaking Figure 8 Island Yacht club is just a pretty bonus! This vintage inspired—wildly romantic—intimate wedding shoot was as lovely as it was inspiring. Theo Milo Photography captured all the fine details of the day. Soft, pale shades of pink and yellow roses, tulips, and ranunculus were our main floral inspiration, all romantically set in heirloom china on vintage linens. This shoot was representative of how sweet and timeless can still be breathtaking and lovely.

Our Design Tip of the week: Make use of the unexpected while creating flowers. Look at that gold-rimmed china serving bowl, piled perfectly with fresh blooms…a centerpiece doesn’t always have to be in only a certain container or vase, sometimes the best design details come from using a little imagination. Enjoy.

Greenhouse Chic: Our Feature in Focus On The Coast Magazine

March 14th, 2014

focus_on_the_coast-050Have you picked up this month’s copy of Focus on the Coast yet?! We’re on the cover! Focus on the Coast magazine featured our ‘Greenhouse Chic’ design we created for the annual Courtyards & Cobblestones wedding show in downtown Wilmington, and we couldn’t be more thrilled!

The cheerful color green was our central design element for our ‘Greenhouse Chic’ celebration. Inspired by a bride’s passion for botany and Bakery 105’s exposed brick and natural sunlight, we created a modern twist on the trending ‘Rustic’ event design. Varying shades of green and creative uses of different materials- such as moss plate chargers and botanical wallpaper table runners- were utilized to delightfully modernize this nature inspired (greenhouse) design. Herbs, succulents, and ranunculus were encased in differing sized bell jars to spotlight nature’s most delicate blooms and stylishly complete the farm tables’ centerpieces.  Eco never looked so friendly!

Styled Shoot: An Artist’s Watercolor Wedding

November 6th, 2013

Psst…we have a (not so secret) design tool we rely on when meeting with perspective brides and talking colors…The Perfect Palette blog. This popular blog is a fave in the shop because the easy to well styled inspiration boards, categorized by a mecca of color combos, are all perfectly designed to help brides and grooms easily envision their ‘perfect palette’. We love this blog! So, when we saw our watercolor inspired style shoot as a feature color combo last week, we nearly flipped.

Our floral inspiration came from our coastal love of watercolors and its delicate method of blending color. This was the perfect design element for showcasing sunset hued roses and hydrangea ‘bleeding’ into the next shade subtly.  Our bride’s appreciation for art and all things modern was displayed in our furniture choice of lucite and lacquer. Tied together with feminine touches seen in the tablecloth, mirrored accent pieces and white vintage frames. wilmington wedding photoswilmington wedding photosOur lovely bride’s bouquet and headpiece was designed to exude her assurance and love of bold color. Bleeding hues of sherbet to bold pops of fuchsia were designed to complement her confidence. Bright, distinct texture galore.wilmington wedding photos wilmington wedding photos The main elements were to show our hostess’ eye for detail and appreciation for the unexpected. The flowers were all designed in sunset hues, blending subtly into the next sunset shade. The lucite stools, white lacquer furniture and that show stopping mirrored bar, all from Pomp, were selected to complement our overall design in a way of ‘reflecting’ its surroundings and to sleekly showcase the blossoms’ colors like art on display. And of course, the cocktails and watercolor guest gifts were also set in our signature party colors. But…One Belle Bakery’s cake was a centerpiece in itself! Taking the theme of watercolor, femininity and art and creating a mini masterpiece we dared not slice. They painted the cake?! Swoon.

Succulents and a Southern, Soft Palette

August 20th, 2013

Gwyn and Mike-15Sometimes the best part of designing wedding flowers is seeing all the wonderful moments of our couples’ big day captured on film. Gwyn & Mike’s wedding was just that type of moment, full of Southern charm and loads of personality. Gwyn’s sea-foam green/gray hued bridesmaids’ dresses allowed us to infuse the subtle pop of peachy pinks into a palette of creams and a mecca of textured greens. The fabulous element (and texture) of succulents was the perfect match for our bride’s romantic, natural aesthetic. Not to mention, the tiny detail of twine around the boutonnieres to compliment the burlap bouquet wrap. We love when we get to play. FYI- We can’t get enough of the bridal party shot above “just hanging” on a live oak tree…southern charm at it’s best.

DESIGNER’S TIP: Never shy away from the juxtaposition of two opposite textures or feels. There is a creative delight when you complete a look that infuses a visual surprise. Example: the succulents mixed with the large, peach cabbage rose.

Fiore’s Ideas for a Blooming Mother’s Day

May 8th, 2013

blog3Calling all mamas...Mother’s day is this weekend and we love celebrating mom! So as a mom, I knew it was the perfect time to share some simple, stylish ideas that my fellow mothers would appreciate. See the bouquet above? It’s what I call ‘Pink Peonie Perfection’, this flower is stunning, strong and enchanting. So, it is no wonder why I feel it is a direct reflection of moms everywhere. Peonies are delicate but never frail, they compliment any fellow flower but can also stand stunning alone, and they are utterly endearing. Check out these ideas below and become inspired, there’s something for everyone…and remember, we’re always here to help. Enjoy!

1.) Simple & Sweet: Never negate how far a bit of color and pretty paper can take you, a simple bloom wrapped easily in a band of colorful, patterned paper makes for the most delightful presentation. decor8blog2.) Why, hello gorgeous. This astounding amount of tulips (just a few bushels), set in one color palette and a galvanized water bucket, makes anyone mom wish to stay home and host all day long!3a129da23a7a8bdc594be9aa0e93dc5d3.)Cheerfully Dressed: Let mom wake up to color and whimsy with a band of ribbons cascading down a door. This is a great project for the pint size crew! And a fabulous surprise for mom. a9e0f2b656196b300d6c9e47a8c916644.) Garden Chic: Texture and abundance is key here, we love this birch vase (we use them a lot) full of all the wonder of a garden. And green thumb mama would swoon over this. poppytalk5.) A Card As Big As Mom’s Heart: So simple and enadearing! Take any color poster board, string (or ribbon) and let the kiddos have at it. Homemade can still come out chic if the design has structure. c15735fa37edd93e5e6a16caf2111a646.) Cones + Carnations = Charm: Yes, we said it…carnations. This flowers doesn’t get much love, but as designers we know that a bushel of this very textured flower is brilliant for adding a bit of easy charm to decorative accents. These easy-to-make paper cones are a perfect example of thinking outside the box. appetitespoiler.blogspot7.) Lastly… Nothing is a better treat than a Tussie Mussie (petite bouquet) of brilliant blooms for mom. How special would it be for her to receive a mini version of this bouquet we made below?fioreThere’s still time to create something special for mom, hopefully these ideas will inspire you a bit. We’re busy on the design floor building, creating and constructing some mighty pretty arrangement all in the name of (Mom) love if you need some help!

Happiest Mother’s Day wishes to all the lovely moms everywhere.
