Succulents and a Southern, Soft Palette

August 20th, 2013

Gwyn and Mike-15Sometimes the best part of designing wedding flowers is seeing all the wonderful moments of our couples’ big day captured on film. Gwyn & Mike’s wedding was just that type of moment, full of Southern charm and loads of personality. Gwyn’s sea-foam green/gray hued bridesmaids’ dresses allowed us to infuse the subtle pop of peachy pinks into a palette of creams and a mecca of textured greens. The fabulous element (and texture) of succulents was the perfect match for our bride’s romantic, natural aesthetic. Not to mention, the tiny detail of twine around the boutonnieres to compliment the burlap bouquet wrap. We love when we get to play. FYI- We can’t get enough of the bridal party shot above “just hanging” on a live oak tree…southern charm at it’s best.

DESIGNER’S TIP: Never shy away from the juxtaposition of two opposite textures or feels. There is a creative delight when you complete a look that infuses a visual surprise. Example: the succulents mixed with the large, peach cabbage rose.

The Fifth Annual Festival of Flowers. What a Hit, What a Fun time!

March 7th, 2013

festivalofflowers_5Have you ever had such an amazing week of work and self fulfillment that it takes a while to process every glorious detail about it? Well, we did.

One of our most exciting times of the year here at Fiore is February’s Annual Festival of Flowers honoring the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation. Hailing its fifth year of community, flowers and charity we couldn’t be more excited with its soulful outcome! Our own lovely & lively Fiore Founder, Jean Rosenberg, started this fundraiser when she opened up Fiore Fine Flowers five ago with the intention to always give back in a refreshing way, “When we opened (Fiore) we decided that there would be one specific charity we’d help contribute to every year. To us, Cape Fear Hospice was the perfect fit.”

This year marked the first year of making our annual Festival of Flowers a week-long event with the notable expertise of the über talented and charming Mr. Matthew Robbins of Matthew Robbins Design.  Oh, this man exudes talent. We-just-can’t-get-enough-of-Mr.-Matthew! Matthew was gracious enough to come back (his 2nd year) and spend the whole week teaching our guests the talents of dressing the perfect table, showing off his national & international designs and teaching our Southern hostesses with the mostesses how to create the perfect cocktail arrangements. Bravo ladies, you all did a fabulous job!festival of flowers 2013_1_857186185_n

And what a week it was, four fruitful events and four fabulous excuses having a really darn good time! As we know here at Fiore, it wouldn’t be a party without a fashion show, a “Table Setting” graciously donated by Protocol, a day of flowers with the delectable food of 128 South and an oyster roast at UNCW. We couldn’t have pulled it all off without the heaping big help of Matthew Robbins, all of our wonderful local sponsors like Blueberry Fusion who donated their time and talent to capture the whole event, our talented colleagues and exceptional committee. But, do you know why we’re really cheering? It was the fantastic charitable outcome, it’s the heart and soul of why Fiore began this five years ago and what has us grinning from ear to ear. Now, who’s in for honoring Lower Cape Fear Hospice next year?!
